Oul the not-so-normal cat
Oul was a pretty normal cat (well, to begin with anyway). They liked falling down stairs and napping in the sun. They had pure black fur with piercing amber eyes, a small build and a love for cooking.
One day though, while falling down some stairs, Oul felt a sharp and sudden pain in their upper back. 'ohhh shoot, today is the day when I get hurt by falling down staaiirsss nooooooo!' they thought, attempting to stand.
Once standing, Oul twisted their head to investigate the strange occurrence, but what they found was... well, unexpected.
What Oul saw were two snowy white wings nestled deeply into their fur. Each wing was massive, decorated with thousands of tiny, delicate placed feathers. 'Uhhh, I guess that happened, then.' mused Oul, flexing their new and feathery assets. 'Well, I suppose I should take them for a test ru- nope, research. I can fly once I know more stuff.' thought Oul, not wanting to fall to their death.
After a few hours of scouring the internet for anything regarding their situation, Oul had drawn a blank. There was nothing on any website they could find, and social media wasn't any help either.
'oh... well, I suppose there's nothing else left to do but fly...' Oul thought, drawing in a deep breath. 'Alright, uhh, how would I even conceal these things???' Oul pondered, their tail tip twitching with anxiety.
After about a minute of trying unsuccessfully, Oul had given up. They had sighed and driven to the nearest cliff.
Alright. This was it. The moment everything so far had been leading up to. Oul was standing, paws planted firmly into the ground, wearing a determined expression. They took another deep breath, and launched themselves of the edge of the cliff.
It was terrifying, being in the threshold of life and death, this world and oblivion. But, as Oul was plummeting directly toward this oblivion, something overtook their entire body. Oul had felt this before, while hunting mice. It was instinct. And then, in one swift, beautiful movement, Oul unfolded their wings and flapped.
Oul was feeling something that they had never felt in their nineteen years of being. They had never felt it, and yet it came naturally to them.
After a while of gliding and exercising their wings, Oul came down to land. They were tired, but content.
